This book helped change my world when I read it in high school. It gave me a different way of thinking about life and what I could accomplish, even if I was the only "leaven" in the group. Some of its esmples are now dated. such as communist-dominated unions, but premises are still valid. I just wish there was an updated edition.
I read this book as a teenager and found it most inspiring. Although I am from a minority culture, I learned from Father Keller that each one of us is capable of making a difference in the world even though it may be a small difference. I decided as a teenager that I would do this. Father Keller's advice was simple yet convincing. I especially like that chapter entitled "Everything's all right in Kokomo." I would recommend this book to everyone but especially to those who may think that they have nothing to give. After reading this, you will conclude that you do!
I read this book in high school in the early 1950's. It gave me the motivation to go into teaching and to have a successful career spanning 48 years. I have just retired and was pleased to find I could again get this book as my original copy was loaned out many many years ago. A great companion book by Father Keller (that this Southern Baptist proudly quotes from) is Government Is Your Business. For three decades I was very invloved in Republican politics because of this second book. I used both to encourage my students.

This has been erroneously tied to the classic Catholic work You Can Change the World by Father James Keller, MM. This free digital work is completely unrelated and inferior.
